Openfield provided UX strategy and design that resulted in this intuitive, innovative suite of learning tools that facilitate campus communication and create a standardized ecosystem of support at every stage of the student lifecycle.
Macmillan New Ventures (MNV) identified a shift in the competitive landscape of classroom polling tools, where their iClicker polling response system has set the standard for the last decade. iClicker had to evolve in order to retain the market leadership it had earned. The proven and effective iClicker classroom tool would become the robust REEF Education app for Android, iOS, Windows, Mac OS and Linux.
Expanding an established and successful product ecosystem into the newly competitive EdTech market led MNV to choose Openfield as their user experience and design partner.
Together, we have developed a strategic roadmap that guides user understanding and tested, evidence-based experience design in an agile environment.
The results are enabling fast adoption of the REEF Education platform. Going forward, we continue to help Macmillan shape the future user experience.

REEF Education’s users include university instructors, students and administrators. We went directly to the source and interviewed real users to understand their expectations and needs. Armed with use cases and measurable data, we went to work with MNV to structure guiding principles around their audiences’ core needs.

We continually drive the success of REEF Education by grounding our process in listening closely to what users actually want.
A feedback loop focused on capturing student and instructor insights is our basis for validating black and white wireframes, low and high fidelity prototypes and A/B tests. Incorporating user feedback into every step enables us to validate design choices or pivot and repeat until a concept is fully accepted by users and a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) validation is reached.

Measuring brand effectiveness and customer satisfaction before a product is released builds confidence and mitigates risk.
We measure the extent to which REEF Education’s users will adopt and advocate for REEF Education by conducting a series of thorough usability evaluations. After usability studies are conducted, we measure output through various channels, including the System Usability Scale (SUS), Net Promoter Score (NPS), and Affect Grid. Through these metrics, we measure overall usability, customer satisfaction and loyalty, and overall affect of using the product.
